Accessibility Statement

The Green Energy Lab research initiative strives to make its websites accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on Barrier-free Access to Websites and Mobile Applications of the Federal Government (Web Accessibility Act – WZG) BGBl. I. No. 59/2019 as amended.

This Accessibility Statement applies to the website www.greenenergylab.at

Status of compliance with the requirements

This website is not compliant with conformance level AA of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

With reference to Section 6 (1) BaFG, there is no obligation for micro-enterprises with fewer than ten permanent employees that offer or provide services to fulfil accessibility requirements. However, it is a concern of Green Energy Lab to provide all users with barrier-free access to our websites and to fulfil the accessibility standards as far as possible within the scope of reasonable effort.

Non-accessible content

The contents listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

a. Disproportionate burden

Our videos are hosted and published on the video platform Youtube. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos. This means that WCAG success criterion 1.2.5 (audio description recorded) is not met. We are of the opinion that a correction would represent a disproportionate burden in terms of accessibility regulations. The same applies to live broadcasts of webinars, Insight Talks and the like.

Many, predominantly older, PDF documents and Office documents are not accessible. For example, PDF documents are not tagged so that they cannot be recognised and used by screen reader users, or only to an insufficient extent. This means that WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value) is not fulfilled.

b. The contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions

Content from third parties, such as studies or presentation materials from external speakers that are not under the direct control of Green Energy Lab, are excluded from Directive (EU) 2016/2102. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with accessibility regulations.

No statement can be made regarding the accessibility of embedded content from other websites, social media portals, streaming services or other web applications or content to which external links are provided.

The interactive innovation map is based on an application from an external service provider and Green Energy Lab cannot make any statement about its accessibility.

Procedure for Enforcement

In case of unsatisfactory answers from the above contact option, you may submit a complaint to the complaints office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the contact form of the complaints office.

The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the requirements of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with the accessibility requirements, by the Federal Government or an institution attributable to it.

If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations to the Federal Government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy such deficiencies in question.
