The association Green Energy Lab research initiative takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. For this reason, we want to inform the users of our internet offers about which data will be stored and how this data shall be used.
1 General Information on Data Processing and its Legal Bases
- This Privacy Policy describes the nature, scope, and purposes laid down for processing personal data within our services and the websites, functions, and contents associated with them (hereinafter collectively referred to as “website”). This declaration applies regardless of the domains, systems, platforms, and devices used (e.g. desktop or mobile).
- The definitions of the terms used, such as “personal data” or “date processing”, can be found in art. 4 of the Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (General Data Protection Regulation, DSGVO).
1.3 We process users’ personal data only in compliance with the statutory privacy policy provisions (in particular art. 6 para. 1 of the DSGVO). Accordingly, data will only be processed if we are we are legally entitled to do so; in particular if data processing is necessary for the performance of our contractual services (e.g. processing of orders) and our online services, or if it is required by law, or if there is user consent, or if there is a predominant legitimate interest on our part (e.g. our interest in analyzing and optimizing our online services).
2 Categories of Data Processed and the Legal Bases for their Processing
2.1 Within the scope of our offers, we process the following personal data for the execution of the contract (art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the DSGVO) or on the basis of our predominant legitimate interest (art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the DSGVO)
- inventory data (e.g. names and addresses of customers, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses
- contract data (e.g. services used, name of the clerk in charge, information regarding payments)
- usage data (e.g. websites visited within the scope of our online offers)
- content data (e.g. for the registration of the newsletter)
3 Purposes of Data Processing
3.1 The personal data mentioned will be processed for the following purposes:
- to fulfil contractual obligations and services
- to make this website available and to further improve it and make it more user-friendly
- to compile usage statistics
- to respond to enquiries
- to send you Green Energy Lab promotional material
3.2 Based on the use of our online services, we store the shortened IP address and the time of the respective user action. These data are stored both on the basis of our legitimate interest and also on the basis of the interest of the users in being protected from abuse and other unauthorized use.
4 Transmission of Data to Third Parties and Third-Party Service Providers
4.1 A passing on of data takes place only on the basis of legal requirements. We only pass on data if this is required, e.g., on the basis of art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the DSGVO for the execution of the contract or on the basis of a predominant legitimate interest pursuant to art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the DSGVO for efficient and smooth commercial operations.
4.2 If we use subcontractors, they will be located within the EU or the EEA. A transfer to third countries does not take place. Where subcontractors are used, we will take appropriate legal precautions and appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that the protection of personal data is carried out in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions.
5 Security Measures
5.1 We will take state-of-the-art organizational, contractual, and technical security measures to ensure that the provisions of the data privacy laws are complied with and to protect the data processed by us against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, or access by unauthorized persons.
6 Making Contact with Us
6.1 When contacting us via our internet address form or by e-mail, the users’ details will be processed for the purpose of dealing with the contact enquiry in accordance with art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the DSGVO. We will delete enquiries that are no longer needed.
7 Google Analytics
7.1 We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, U.S.A (“Google”), on our website. Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. These are text files that are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of your use of the website. We use this analysis tool because of our predominant legitimate interest in accordance with art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the DSGVO in having easy-to-use website access statistics done in a cost-efficient way.
7.2 Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement, thereby guaranteeing compliance with European data protection laws.
7.3 On our website, we use the IP anonymisation option offered by Google Analytics. The IP address will be shortened by Google for member states of the European Union or other contracting states within the EEA. Only in exceptional cases the full IP address will be transmitted to a Google server in the U.S.A and shortened there.
7.4 Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services to us relating to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other data by Google.
7.5 You can prevent the storing of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. In addition, you can prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookies and related to your use of the online services and their transfer to Google and Google’s processing of this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en .

8 Server Log Files
8.1 The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are: Browser type/browser version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server enquiry.
This data cannot be assigned to specific persons. This data will not be merged with other data sources.
9 Cookies & Range Measurements
9.1 We use so-called cookies on our website. A cookie is a small file or other type of information storage element that may be saved on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are generally used to provide users with additional functions on a website (e.g. to facilitate navigation; to find pages that you have previously viewed; to store preferences for repeated visits). Cookies cannot access, read, or modify other data on your computer.
9.2 We use permanent cookies which remain on your computer until you manually delete them from your browser. We use such cookies to recognize you the next time you visit our website.
9.3 We may use the “reCAPTCHA” service of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, U.S.A, hereinafter “Google”, to protect the input forms on our site. The use of this service makes it possible to differentiate whether the input in question has been made by a human or whether an automated mechanical processing device wants to misuse our input form.
To the best of our knowledge, the referrer URL, the IP address, the behaviour of website visitors, information on the operating system, browser and length of visit, cookies, display instructions, and scripts, the user’s input behaviour and mouse movements in the “reCAPTCHA” checkbox area are transmitted to “Google”.
Google uses the information obtained in this way, among other things, to digitize books and other printed material and to optimize services such as Google Street View and Google Maps (e.g. house number and street name recognition).
The IP address provided as part of “reCAPTCHA” will not be merged with any other data held by Google unless you are logged into your Google account at the time you use the “reCAPTCHA” plug-in. If you wish to prevent “Google” from transmitting and storing data about you and your behaviour on our website, you must log out of “Google” before visiting our site or using the reCAPTCHA plug-in. 9.4 If you do not wish cookies to be stored on your computer, please deactivate the corresponding option in the browser’s system settings. You can also block or delete cookies that have already been stored in your browser. Using this feature, however, may lead to restricted usability of our website.
10 Newsletter
10.1 The following hints inform you about the contents of our newsletter as well as registration, dispatch, and statistical evaluation procedures and your rights of objection. By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to the receipt and procedures mentioned.
10.2 Contents of the newsletter: We send newsletters, e-mails, and electronic notifications with promotional information only with the consent of the recipient or with statutory permission. Our newsletters contain information about our products, offers, activities, and our company.
10.3 Double-opt-in and logging: Subscribing to our newsletter takes place by a double-opt-in procedure. This means that after registration you will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary so that no one can register with external e-mail addresses. Registrations for the newsletter are logged in order to be able to track the registration process according to statutory requirements, which include storing the time of confirmation and the IP address. Required registration data: To subscribe to the newsletter, you must enter your name and e-mail address.
10.4 Statistical surveys and analyses: The newsletters contain a so-called web-beacon. This is a file the size of a pixel, which is retrieved from the sender’s server at the time the newsletter is opened. At the time of this retrieval, technical information such as data about the browser and your system as well as your IP address and time of retrieval are first collected. This information is used for the technical improvement of the services based on technical data or target groups and their reading behaviour according to access points or access times. The statistical surveys also include determining whether the newsletters have been opened and which links have been clicked. Although for technical reasons this information can be attributed to individual newsletter recipients, it is neither our nor the sender’s intention to monitor individual users. Such evaluation rather helps us to recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our contents to them or to send diverse contents based on our users’ interests.
10.5 The use of mailing services, the performance of statistical surveys and analyses, and the logging of the registration procedure are based on our legitimate interests pursuant to art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the DSGVO. We are interested in having a user-friendly and secure newsletter system that serves both our business interests and users’ expectations.
10.6 The dispatch of the newsletter and the performance measurements are based on the consent of the recipients pursuant to art. 6 para. 1 lit. a, art. 7 of the DSGVO in conjunction with § 107 para. 2 of the Telekommunikationsgesetz (TKG – laws governing telecommunication) or on the legal consent pursuant to § 107 para. 2 and 3 of the TKG.
10.7 Revocation: You can revoke the receipt of the newsletter at any time. Simultaneously, your consent to the mailing services and the statistical analyses will also expire. You find a link for revocation at the end of each newsletter. Your personal data will be deleted after revocation of or unsubscription to the newsletter.
10.8 We use the program mailchimp for mailing the newsletter. The data is stored and processed by mailchimp. Further information about mailchimp’s data security can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/about/security/
11 Your Rights in Connection with the Processing of Personal Data
11.1 You are entitled to
(i) request confirmation as to whether the data in question will be processed and to be informed of such data and to obtain further information and a copy of the data in accordance with art. 15 of the DSGVO.
(ii) request the completion of data concerning you or the rectification of inaccurate data concerning you.
(iii) demand that the data concerned be deleted without delay or, alternatively, to demand a restriction on the processing of the data in accordance with art. 18 of the DSGVO.
(iv) request that the data concerning you which you have provided to us be kept in accordance with art. 20 of the DSGVO and to request that it be transferred to other responsible parties.
(v) lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

12 Right of Objection
12.1 You may object at any time to the future processing of your personal data in accordance with the statutory provisions; in particular, this possibility covers data processing for direct marketing purposes.
13 Deletion of Data
13.1 The data stored by us will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required for their intended purpose and there are no legal obligations to retain them.
13.2 We are legally obliged, e.g. according to § 132 of the Bundesabgabenordnung – BAO (Federal Fiscal Code), to keep accounting documents (e.g. invoices, receipts) for a period of at least 7 years (longer in the case of legal disputes).

14 Changes to the Privacy Policy
14.1 Since, for example, the legal situation or our services which include the associated data processing may change, we reserve the right to amend this privacy policy accordingly. However, this only applies to declarations on data processing. If your consent for data processing is required or if parts of this privacy policy contain provisions governing the contractual relationship with a user, the changes will only be made with your consent.
14.2 Please inform yourself regularly about the current content of our privacy policy.
