The use of waste heat from various sources is seen as a key measure for future energy supply concepts, particularly in combination with district heating systems.

Different concepts for waste heat recovery are being implemented at three locations with the following core elements: Integration of an absorption heat pump (AustroCell Hallein), renewable heating and cooling from wastewater (Headquarters Wien Kanal in Vienna Blumental) and waste heat recovery from the thermal water of the Vienna-Oberlaa thermal spa.

The model solution is therefore transferable to district heating networks with suitable waste heat potential.
