Cozy get-together & annual preview 2023 at the Christmas GEL-Together

On December 1st, there was an opportunity for personal networking and looking ahead to the highlights of the coming year in a festive atmosphere above the rooftops of Vienna!

We are family!
“It is the people, our network of idea drivers, solution developers and innovators that make the Green Energy Lab what it is – Austria’s largest innovation lab for a sustainable energy future!” – so aptly opened Mathias Schaffer, Association Board and Chairman of the Green Energy Lab, our Christmas GEL get-together on December 1, 2022, at the beautiful Schani Hotels Rooftop.

We were delighted that so many people accepted our invitation to (finally!) network in person again and to start the Advent season with us above the rooftops of Vienna.

The event was all about personal exchange: in addition to project managers from the Green Energy Lab, well-known and newly elected Steering Group members also took part and talked shop with us about current topics relating to the green energy transition over punch, chestnuts and Christmas music.

Our playful streak also got its money’s worth with a Christmas GEL bingo and gave us the opportunity to get to know each other even better – away from our everyday business lives. Congratulations once again to the winners, who showed full commitment and some even took selfies with the GEL team/board (see photos ?)!

By the way, you can copy our bingo template here. The next Christmas party is sure to come! Many thanks to everyone who attended and made our GEL-Together such a successful, cozy and entertaining event!

In addition to personal networking, we also took the opportunity to showcase upcoming and past highlights of the Green Energy Lab. Here you can find the most relevant activities to read up on.

Annual preview 2023
Together, we reviewed the year 2022 and looked ahead to the Green Energy Lab highlights in the coming year 2023. We are currently looking for a new team member to join us as Communications Manager to shape the sustainable energy system. Have we piqued your interest? Click here for the job advertisement. We look forward to receiving your applications or recommendations!

A strong focus of our activities has been and continues to be the development of Green Energy Foresight. We are pleased to report that the first issue of our RadarView will be published in the first few weeks of the new year, providing you with an interactive overview and insight into the most relevant fields of innovation in the integrated renewable energy system of the future. Stay tuned for the first edition!

With ten new innovation projects with a firm funding commitment from the 4th call for proposals of the Energy Flagship Region and numerous other implementation projects, the portfolio is now growing considerably and with it the opportunity to prepare further green energy technologies that are highly relevant right now for a rapid and successful market launch. We look forward to starting the new year together with the exciting projects and welcoming them on board as new members of the GEL family. But there are also various other opportunities to develop projects with us and become part of our portfolio. Our Innovation Manager Karin Dögl has an overview of the most important current and upcoming funding channels and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you and hearing your project ideas!

The next opportunity to be inspired by us and international experts and to initiate new R&D projects will be on February 14, 2023, at our next Insight Talk – Cybersecurity4Energy. Be our Green Valentine and help us shape the energy transition on this highly topical issue! There will also be some highlight events at the Green Energy Lab in 2023. We are planning two more Insight Talks and an annual event, following the success of this year’s annual event “2040 starts NOW” in May.

Our range of support for solution developers goes far beyond the development of project plans. Particularly in the implementation phase, our services focus on the successful demonstration of solutions in the integrated energy system by actively involving users and other stakeholders and collecting annual monitoring data on the sample solutions developed in the project. As a project draws to a close, we take stock together in order to demonstrate the actual impact and scalability of the solution. Together with the two other energy flagship regions, we will continue to intensively develop our impact analysis in 2023 and present our next interim results at the end of 2023.

2023 will be an exciting, eventful year for you and us at the Green Energy Lab. We look forward to working with you to develop ideas for projects, implement solutions and learn from each other!

We wish you a wonderful Christmas and a good start to 2023!
